What is Yoga Therapy?
It’s very different from a general yoga class. Think of it as a practical, problem-solving approach to your health.
Most people come to see me because they’re facing a specific challenge they want to solve – whether that’s managing chronic pain, living with a neurological condition, recovering from burnout, or trying to regain their energy.
Instead of giving you a generic routine, we focus entirely on your specific goal. We’ll look at what you’re finding most difficult and create a step-by-step practice to help you make small, manageable improvements.
To do this, we deeply tailor the traditional tools of yoga to exactly what your body and mind need that day. Depending on what you you would like to get from yoga, your practice might include:
- Gentle Movement (āsana): Physical postures adapted completely to your current abilities, mobility, and strength.
- Simple Breathwork (prāṇāyāma): Easy breathing practices to calm your nervous system, manage anxiety, or aid recovery.
- Mindfulness & Relaxation (dhyāna): Techniques to help quiet a busy mind and find a sense of calm.
- Practical Lifestyle Advice: Drawing on the holistic principles of Ayurveda, we look at pacing, daily routines, and small habit adjustments to support your health outside of our sessions.
Crucially, this practice is designed to fit into your everyday life. It won’t take hours, and you don’t need any special equipment. It is designed around your current abilities, fitting into your existing routine to give you simple tools to help you feel better every day.
To see steady improvements, the secret is consistency—practising a little bit often is much more effective than trying to do a lot all at once.
